Shapewear secrets...

It can be an awkward conversation to have with clients, but I find during my Wardrobe Audits or Personal shopping trips, at some point, the subject of shapewear comes up. You know, the undergarments that tuck you in, smooth you out, lift you up...the possibilities are endless with the right kind. I can't stress enough the power of properly fitting shapewear! And no, it has nothing to do with how big you are. For me, shapewear is about smoothing you out and making your clothes look better and feeling more confident in them (especially when the cut or fabric may be less than forgiving).

There are two main types out there...compression based shapewear and hosiery shapewear. if you want serious sucking in power, and something that will hold you in tight...go for compression based shapewear. It's made with lycra or spandex, and because of that, will provide you with some serious shaping support. But if you are one of those women who complain "shapewear is uncomfortable", you haven't found the right brand and size yet. But if you want to start off with some lighter (not so constricting) support, try hosiery shapewear. It also has lycra in it, but it's mixed with a lightweight nylon or cotton.

  1. We totally agree. Shapewear is all about enhancing curves. Our mission is to boost women's confidence by helping them look and feel better in their clothes. Inspired by our co-founder's personal need/desire for a shaping solution for her arm flab, Slimpressions was born. :) Our line is comprised of a microfiber nylon and Lycra Spandex blend for balanced, everyday control. Did you see us in InStyle this month? Look for us on QVC again later this month too.
