New Mom Wardrobe

I love this picture of Victoria Beckham out shopping with her newborn baby. It makes me howl with laughter - it's so unrealistic!

On a more serious note though, there is something to be said about feeling good about how you look post baby, and there really is no easier way to do that than with the clothes you choose to wear. And it's not as hard as you think - as long as you plan accordingly.

We all know having a baby can result in some major changes in your body shape. And it will keep changing for a little while thanks to breastfeeding too. Because of your shifting shape, I understand you don't want to be investing a lot of cash into your wardrobe - but you still want to feel good about how you look (especially since you may not be feeling so great about your shape right now). Even though we all know your baby is probably the best dressed one right now. :-)

So, instead of going out and spending a ton of cash on a whole new wardrobe that won't fit 3-6 months from now, I have created a "post baby" wardrobe capsule that will get you through the next 12-18 months.

The idea here is to spend your money on pieces that have some give. In other words, stretch! Think lycra, cotton blends, even denim. Now, I am the Practical Fashionista after all, so I encourage you to only buy pieces that are machine washable, and require little care to look good. As well, take the time to buy pieces that work well with one another so mixing and matching everything is effortless and you can create multiple looks - an easy way to do this is to pick a colour theme for your capsule. Here's some inspiration...
