Wardrobe Re-Mix

If you are like most people, when you shop, you probably just buy whatever catches your eye and that you like - but you don't give a lot of thought as to how to make it work with your current wardrobe or how to use it to create a variety of looks. If that's the case, I am here today to get you thinking about how to shop differently and shop with a purpose. The purpose? To create a variety of looks with a set number of pieces - to create a Wardrobe Capsule!

When you shop with the idea of creating a wardrobe capsule, not only do you save money, but you can create (almost) endless looks without having an overflowing closet of one off's and "I have nothing to wear with this" pieces. Keep reading to see how I did it by using only the above 9 pieces of clothing and 2 pairs of shoes pictured above!

By making sure everything can be mixed and matched, and adding in some accessories to create even more variety, I created 18 looks (and could have kept going)! Use it to inspire yourself to do the same when hitting the stores this season to do your Spring shopping. Or, if you are looking for some personalized one-on-one help, give me a call or drop me an e-mail to find out about my upcoming 'Spring 2012 Wardrobe Capsule Shopping Sessions' that I will be offering during the month of April throughout the GTA. I offered this service last Fall and it was a HUGE hit!

  1. What if these pieces don't suit your body type/or are not age appropriate. Maybe you are just doing fashions for the younger set. I'm in my 60's!!!!!!!

    1. You are right Anonymous, the outfits displayed are NOT appropriate for certain ages or body types. But the idea wasn't to use the outfit ideas exactly "as is", but to give inspiration to see how mixing and matching specific pieces and putting more thought into shopping to make sure pieces work with one another by shopping for items that go with one another style wise, and in a set colour theme. It's just not possible to dress ever body type, personal colouring, style personality, and age group in one blog post...that's what I do when working one-on-one with clients. :-) www.practicalfashionista.com
