From the athletic jock to the metro sexual...just like women, guys have their own unique style personalities. Today, some tips on how to do the urban cowboy look in a modern way.
1) Ditch the flannel shirt. For a more fashionable look, go for a vintage looking Western style button down shirt. Use your shirt as your statement piece and get one with details like pearl buttons or some embroidered details.
2) When it comes to your jeans, a distressed and/or faded style is best. It just ups the "cool" factor of your look, without making it look like you are trying to hard. Also, make sure they are not too tight or you'll risk looking "dated". You want a nice boot cut and somewhat fitted, but never tight! For dressier occasions, go for a darker wash.
3) For some extra fashion flair, a cool belt buckle will do the trick. Think chunky silver or if you're really daring (and it works with the rest or your outfit), turquoise.
4) And lastly, but most importantly, you can't be an Urban Cowboy without the cowboy boots. Some may say you should get creative with snakeskin or two toned boots, but I say the when it comes to the footwear, the simpler the better. A classic brown, black, or even grey pair will always look the best, and provide more versatilty within your wardrobe. YEE HAW!

These boots were made for walking...

Boot season is here, and I am SOOOO excited! I am so sad though when I hear from women complaining about their "larger calf size", saying they can't wear boots because they either don't fit over their legs, or they just look "wrong". Well I say, that's just wrong! All you have to do is know what to look for in a boot...
1) If you have thicker calves, and you can't get boots to zip up over them...try a pull on boot instead. As well, choose a boot that covers your entire lower leg. If the top of the boot hits you mid calf, it will only bring attention to the thickness of them.
2) Match the thickness of your heels to your body. If you are larger framed, you will look best in a boot with a thicker and sturdier heel.

Head Over Heels for Over-The-Knee Boots!!!

From pop princess Hilary Duff to the queen herself, Madonna, celebs everywhere are sporting the “IT” trend for Fall/Winter 2009/2010…Over-the-Knee Boots! Now, at first glance, these taller than average boots may seem a bit much worn off the runway, but worn the right way, they CAN work for everyone.
Some rules to keep in mind…
Choose a neutral colour like black, brown, camel, grey or any other earth tone. Skip the bright colours. They’ll be too hard to match, and quite often, tend to look cheap.
When it comes to material, stick with suede or matte leather. Avoid anything too shiny like patent leather. It’s too “Pretty Woman”, and we all know what THAT look says...
Do a medium width/height heel, or go with a flat. Don’t go too sky high or chunky when it comes to the heel…again, it’s kinda cheap looking.
And lastly, because of the sexiness of this style of boot, make sure the rest of your outfit is somewhat understated and not too tight. At all costs, make sure your legs are fully covered with a thick, textured pair of leggings (like Hilary and Rhianna), or with skinny jeans. That means NO bare skin showing (like Hayden).

SHOE SALE!!!

Check out the Steve Madden sale online at http://www.stevemadden.com/
40% off NEW Styles. That's right...not 40% off last years stuff...
it's what's H-O-T now!
The good news for U.S. customers is that shipping is free, but the bad news is, it's around $25 for us Canadians. But with a discount like this...it's still worth it. OR, you could always have them shipped to a U.S. friend or relative, and then have them ship the shoes to you (way cheaper shipping fees that way)...just a thought. When it comes to a good deal on shoes (quality shoes), I will always figure out a way to make it work!
